Who we are

Live Well With Vision Loss is a charity for everyone experiencing vision changes or loss. Our team is a mix of professionals, advocates, and people with lived experience — all dedicated to guiding, supporting, and inspiring confidence.

We understand firsthand the challenges of low vision and blindness. That insight fuels everything we do: from sharing knowledge to connecting people with the right resources and support.

What We Do

We provide practical support, education, and resources to help people navigate vision loss with confidence. Our initiatives include awareness campaigns, workshops, advice, and visibility tools like T-shirts, vests, and badges to make everyday life safer and more empowering.

We also offer hardship funds, including one for Australians and a local Fraser Coast fund, to provide vital assistance to people facing financial or accessibility challenges. Events such as Dinner in the Dark, indoor skydiving, and community activities bring people together to connect, support one another, and celebrate resilience.

Why We Do It

Vision loss can be confronting and isolating, particularly after a diagnosis of a degenerative eye condition. We know that being informed, aware, and supported can change the journey entirely.

We aim to help people live confidently, maintain independence, and feel supported at every stage. By sharing knowledge, providing tools, and building a connected community, we aim to make living well with vision loss possible for everyone — because everyone deserves the chance to live fully, stay engaged, and feel seen

Vision Loss Touches All of Us

Wellbeing

Living well with vision loss begins with caring for your whole self. Your eyes, body, and mind are interconnected — and small, consistent choices can make a powerful difference. From eye-supportive nutrition and practical recipes to stress management, regular eye checks, and protective habits, this section equips you with strategies that strengthen resilience and support long-term vision health. Because well-being isn’t reactive — it’s proactive.

Adaptive Living

Independence doesn’t disappear with vision loss — it evolves. Adaptive Living is about discovering smart adjustments, practical tools, and intentional design choices that make daily life easier and more efficient. From lighting and contrast to accessible technology and home or workplace modifications, these strategies help you move through your world with confidence and control. Thriving isn’t about doing less — it’s about doing things differently, and doing them well.

Inclusive by Design

Vision change is not the exception — it is part of the human experience. Whether shaped by ageing, health conditions, genetics, injury, or environment, changes in sight affect individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. When we prioritise early detection, whole-body health, and environments designed with accessibility in mind, we don’t just support those living with vision loss — we create spaces that work better for everyone. Inclusion isn’t optional. It’s how we build a future that belongs to us all.
